Why remove EXIF data before sharing

  • Hide your location

Photos taken at home can reveal your address through GPS coordinates.

  • Rentals and listings

Strip the location before posting photos of your home, car or valuables.

  • Selling online

Marketplaces don’t always remove metadata. Clean product photos before you upload them.

  • Email and cloud links

Unlike WhatsApp or Instagram, email attachments and shared links keep all metadata.

What this EXIF remover keeps and removes

  • Removed

GPS location, camera make and model, dates, software, comments, XMP and IPTC data, and AI prompts saved in PNG files.

  • Kept

The colour profile and the rotation setting, so your photo looks the same and doesn’t turn sideways.

  • Checked

After cleaning, we read the new file again to confirm nothing revealing is left.

Questions people ask

How do I remove metadata from a photo?

Drop your photos into the tool above, or tap Choose photos. Each one is cleaned on your device in a second, then you download the clean copy. Nothing is uploaded.

Does removing EXIF data lower the photo quality?

No. The tool cuts the metadata out of the file without re-saving the image, so the picture itself stays exactly the same. The file just gets a little smaller.

What does it remove?

GPS location, camera make and model, dates, software, comments, XMP and IPTC data, and AI prompts saved in PNG files. It keeps the colour profile and the rotation setting, so your photo still looks and turns the right way.

Can I remove metadata from iPhone photos?

JPG photos, yes. iPhone HEIC photos can't be cleaned in the browser yet. Share them as Most Compatible (JPG) first, or turn off Location in the iPhone share options before sending.

Is it free and private?

Yes. It's free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser, so your photos never leave your device. You can clean up to 20 photos at a time.
