What the AI detector says about real pictures
We ran these pictures through the detector. The first three were made with an AI image generator; the last three are real photos.

No detector is perfect. Heavily edited, compressed or screenshotted pictures can fool it either way, so treat the score as strong evidence, not proof.
How to check if an image is AI-generated
- 1
Add your image
Drop it in, choose a file, paste it with Ctrl+V, or use a link.
- 2
We run the check
An AI-image detection model looks at the pixels for patterns that AI generators leave behind.
- 3
Read the result
You get a likelihood score and a short explanation of what it means.
What your result means
The score is how likely the model thinks the image was made by AI. We don’t force a yes or no when the model isn’t sure.
Likely AI-generated
Strong signs of an AI generator. Still worth checking where the image came from.
Unsure
Mixed signals. Common with screenshots, heavy filters, or small, compressed copies.
Likely a real photo
No strong signs of AI. Edited real photos can still land here.
How accurate is this AI image detector?
We tested the model ourselves before using it. It got 11 of 12 images right. The one miss was a real photo of a pug that it rated as AI.
That’s a small test, and no detector is perfect. New AI tools appear every month. Use the score as one strong clue, and confirm important images by checking where they first appeared.
| Images tested | Correct |
|---|---|
| AI images made with Flux | 3/3 |
| The same AI images, resized and re-saved as JPEG | 3/3 |
| Real photos (people, animals, streets) | 5/6 |
| Total | 11/12 |
How to tell if an image is AI-generated yourself
A detector is fast, but your own eyes still help. These are the spots where AI images most often give themselves away.
Hands, teeth and ears
Look for extra or merged fingers, teeth that blur together, and earrings that don’t match.
Text and logos
Signs, labels and shirts often have letters that look almost right but don’t spell anything.
The background
Zoom in on the edges. Railings bend, windows melt into walls, and people in crowds lose their faces.
Light and shadows
Check that shadows fall the same way and that reflections in eyes and glasses make sense.
Where it came from
Run a reverse image search. A real photo usually has an older, original source online.
Questions people ask
How do I check if an image is AI-generated?
Upload the image, paste it with Ctrl+V, or use a link. Our AI image detector checks the pixels for patterns that AI generators leave behind and shows a likelihood score. 70% or higher means likely AI-generated, 30% or lower means likely a real photo, and anything in between is unsure.
How accurate is this AI image detector?
In our own test it got 11 of 12 images right: every AI image (including resized, re-saved copies) and 5 of 6 real photos. The one miss was a real photo rated as AI. No detector is perfect, so treat the score as a strong clue and confirm important images by checking where they first appeared.
Can it tell which AI tool made the image?
No. It tells you how likely the image is to be AI-generated, not whether it came from Midjourney, DALL-E, Flux or another tool.
Is the AI image detector free?
Yes. You can use it without an account. There is a fair-use limit per connection so the tool stays fast for everyone.
What happens to my image?
Your image is uploaded only for the check and deleted from our servers automatically within 3 days. We don't use your images to train models.
Does it work on screenshots and edited photos?
It works, but results are less reliable. Screenshots, heavy filters, and small or heavily compressed copies remove some of the signals the model looks for. Use the original file when you can.
