Privacy Policy

What happens to your pictures and data when you use PixSleuth, in plain English.

Last updated: October 30, 2026

The short version

  • Some tools never upload your picture. Compare Pictures, the Image Metadata Viewer and Remove Metadata run entirely in your browser.
  • Other tools upload it only for the check you ask for. AI detection, the NSFW check and the image describer keep it for up to 3 days so we can review how the checks perform, then delete it automatically.
  • Reverse image search lets you delete it early, because search engines need a link to read it. It’s deleted when you press delete, or automatically within 3 days.
  • We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use your pictures to train AI models.
  • Analytics cookies are off unless you allow them.

Pictures you upload

When a tool needs a server, your picture is uploaded to our storage provider and given a temporary, unguessable link. We use it only to run the check you asked for.

  • AI image detector, NSFW checker, image describer: kept for up to 3 days so we can review how the checks perform, then deleted automatically.
  • Homepage check and reverse image search: kept until you press delete, or at most 3 days, so Google Lens, Yandex, TinEye and Bing can read it when you open them.
  • Every upload is also covered by an automatic clean-up that deletes anything older than 3 days.

Pictures kept for those 3 days are used only to check and improve how our tools work. We don’t build collections of them, sell them, or use them to train models.

Services that process your picture

To run the checks, your picture’s temporary link is sent to these providers. They process it on our behalf to return a result:

  • Replicate and Hugging Face: run the AI models (AI detection, NSFW check, descriptions and object labels).
  • Our storage provider (Vercel Blob or Cloudinary): holds the picture until it’s deleted.
  • SerpApi: fetches Google Lens matches on the reverse search page, when that feature is on.
  • Google Lens, Yandex, TinEye and Bing: only when you click one of their buttons. Their own privacy policies apply to what you do on their sites.

Request logs

Each time a tool runs, we log the time, the tool, the result, the picture’s temporary link, your IP address, the approximate location our hosting provider gives for it (country and city), and your browser type. We use this to stop abuse, enforce fair-use limits, and fix problems. Logs don’t contain the picture itself, and the link stops working once the picture is deleted.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools people use. It only sets analytics cookies if you press Allow on the cookie banner. If you press Decline, we remember that choice and Analytics runs without cookies. We don’t use advertising cookies.

We also count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you: it records the page, the site you came from, your country and device type, nothing else.

We also store small preferences in your browser, such as your cookie choice.

Your choices and rights

  • Use the in-browser tools if you’d rather not upload a picture at all.
  • Press delete on the reverse search and homepage results to remove your picture right away.
  • Ask us to delete request logs linked to your IP address, or ask what we hold, by emailing us.
